Summer Comfort – Keeping The Bugs Out

Retiring to this beautiful new home in Nelson has been a great move for these homeowners. However, they quickly found the proliferation of bugs in the Upper South Island was really affecting their enjoyment of their outdoor courtyard.  Thus began their search for an insect screen solution, which not only kept out  the bugs, but was stylish enough to complement their homes' modern décor and finishes. 

They were pleased to find the Venette Pleated Retractable Screen Doors from HomePlus Nelson, which were the perfect solution for screening the large door openings in the living area. Each set of doors was fitted with a double width Venette insect screen to accommodate the wide openings and to mirror the door profiles, meeting in the corner. These insect screens have been a godsend during this hot summer, allowing the fresh air to flow through the couple’s home from morning till night, without any bugs.  

Venette insect screens are a modern design that use a polyester insect screen mesh, which is pleated and then threaded with Kevlar wire guides to prevent sagging. Pleated mesh has the added advantage of being able to fold away and retract into a discrete frame when not in use. Screens are lightweight, but very strong and are designed for easy rolling on a discrete 3 mm bottom track. 

Another clever, modern design are the foldable handles, which allow the screen door handles to easily fold back and move past the sliding door joinery. Finished in the same colour as the homes joinery, the screens blend into the overall look whilst keeping out all the annoying bugs. And most importantly, the homeowners love their Venette screens.
